Manicure Tips for At Home Manicures

There is nothing more beautiful than a woman's hand fresh from the salon. A professional manicure can turn even the most damaged of fingers into a work of art. But, manicures are expensive and need to be redone on a regular basis. Professional manicure results are simple to achieve at home with a few manicure secrets.

The cuticles are the first spot a professional manicure stylists will focus on. Hand soaking softens the cuticle and allows the pressing of the cuticle away from the nail. Professional manicurists use that ever so secret bowl of liquid to soften cuticles. At home, the perfect secret liquid is olive oil. Olive oil is not only healthy for the body, but softens the cuticles and strengthens the nails. Two small bowls of olive oil and a 15 minute soak are all that is needed to achieve professional manicure style cuticles at home.

After the cuticles have been cared for, it is time for the look. The classic French manicure is the most popular and at home you can tip your nails for a fraction of the stylist cost. By placing a small tab of every day tape over the nail, leaving the tip exposed, you can paint the tip only without messing the rest of the nail. Pain the tip in a white and remove the tape. After the white dries, paint the entire nail with two coats of clear top coat and you have just received a professional French manicure at home.

The nails are the first thing others see whether we are offering our hand for an introduction or simply holding hands for the first time. Having a professional manicure can take time and cost a lot of money. Using olive oil at home and tipping your own nails in a French style will create the same effect for mere pennies on the dollar.
