Curing Dry Skin for Summer

Summer season is well on it's way and we will soon be sporting our shorts and tank tops. Unfortunately tank tops and shorts don't go well with dry and flaky skin. The winter months can be brutal on our skin. Here are a few tips to shed your winter coat of dry skin before the summer sun arrives.

The first step in healing dried skin is to heal from within. Rehydrate your skin from within by replacing omega -3 in your body. Omega-3 is a fatty acid many people are deficient in who watch their fat intake or who do not eat a lot of fish. Omega -3 is also known as fish oils. The Omega-3 available today is not your grandmother's fish oil though. They come in capsules you can take which will not leave you smelling like a salmon. It is also important to rehydrate your skin by increasing your water intake. Water is a natural rehydrator which can help cleanse your body of harmful toxins as well as leave your skin feeling refreshed.

The next step to get rid of your winter skin is to ex foliate the skin. Using a lufa or scrub you can remove your dried winter skin with one of these methods. Once you have removed the dry skin you should next rehydrate the skin from the outside in. Using a moisturizer you can replace the oils in your skin that you have washed away when you showered. After exiting the shower apply moisturizer while the skin is still wet. Do not towel dry simple pat dry.

By following these few simple steps you can have soft supple skin this summer season. Remember to take your Omega-3, ex foliate your skin and keep well hydrated with water for a fresh rejuvenated look. It is also important to use moisturizer especially after washing your hands, as you hands are usually the first area to become dry.
